Crossmedia Publishing

GN3 cont'd
Articles
Content is central in GN3 and this is achieved through Article Based Content Management.
The different elements which make up an Article are all linked, but can be treated as a group or individually.
That means you can edit all the elements together or have different people edit different elements - useful when you are on a tight deadline.
Articles can combine contents of the most different types, from text, to pictures, to multi-media files, ensuring the highest flexibility.
Flexibiliy is often a synonym of chaos, but NOT in GN3. A solid XML schema describes the article tree, preventing errors and guaranteeing the maximum precision.
Articles give you flexibility, control and power - power to ensure that content is king.
Retrieving information
GN3 supports a full information retrieval system, compatible with ISO-2788 standards.
This allows the user to find any relevant documents by simply formalising a query.
Finding information inside the system is extremely easy, GN3 in fact offers a complete information retrieval system based on extended categories, multiple categories, keywords, cross-referencing and fuzzy and weighted searches.
Centralised Picture Desk
Many publishing systems rely on integration with third-party picture desk products.
Whie this is still possible we have taken the step to include full picture desk capability within GN3 itself. Input and selection of images is controlled with the same user interface that controls the input and selection of text thus making the system easier to use and maintain. Images can be selected for both production and/or the archive using the same user inferface.
Create once, publish often
Your final goal is to edit the content once, but make it seamlessly available to a number of media, tailored to the specific needs of each destination.
GN3 allows you to dictate specific properties for each destination - such as print or web.
You can preview those regions, meaning you know exactly what stories will look like before they have been published. No need to wait. No hassle.
You have detailed control over all elements of the stories, whether it is the words, the headlines, the pictures or video.
And you can dictate what goes where in whatever form of media you are publishing into.
The user will move confidently in a unique environment, with no need to learn different applications - all destinations are reached through the same suite of publishing tools.
An open system
GN3 is a dedicated system which gives it great robustness and efficiency in a publishing environment. Due to the use of industry standards, GN3 is also a very open and flexible system, making it particularly easy to integrate with existing and installed technology.
Non-TERA pagination systems can be handled through GN3 - for example, Adobe's InDesign. In fact a publisher that uses InDesign to produce magazines or books can easily access the editorial content stored in the GN3 central database and utilise the power of the content management system.
Innovation
TERA has been at the forefront of technical innovations within the publishing industry for over a decade. Our latest developments include the use of XML to support media-neutral structure with media-specific decisions.
GN3 has the capability to prepare stories to fit both a space in a printed page and a Web page and maintain its reuseability.
