Michele Mottini, CEO, Head of Research and Development, Company Founder
After studying theoretical physics at The University of Milan, Michele decided for ‘‘base financial reasons’’ to seek a career in his second passion, software engineering.
Tera was founded by Michele in 1990 as a two-person company working in a one-room sublet office. In the ensuing years, Tera has grown to become a leading provider of publishing software for the newspapers worldwide. While always maintaining his position as head of engineering, Michele has at various times been chair of the board of directors and its managing director.
Franz Rossi, Managing Director
Franz has been a member of the board of directors since 2000. Aside from tasks required as Tera’s MD, Franz is in charge of spearheading Tera’s expansion in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe and beyond.
Franz created his own company and in 1983 was the first company in Italy to use dtp (Desk Top Publishing) software to produce magazines and newspapers. In 1991, he started to work as a consultant in the publishing industry for Italian newspapers in order to introduce new technologies.
Franz worked as Technical Director and IT manager for two newspapers before joining Tera Digital Publishing as a member of the board of directors. Franz is married to Federica and has two children, Stefania and Joshua. Franz is a long distance runner and triathlete.
John Juliano, Manager, Marketing and Reseller Relations
John handles all reseller support, contracts and management, new business development outside of Europe, communications (press releases, marketing materials), trade shows and the like. John supports resellers worldwide with marketing assistance.
John started in publishing working on printing presses when he was in college and wrote software for publishing during much of his career. For the past ten years, John has worked with newspaper system vendors providing marketing assistance and placement services, brokering acquisitions, negotiating contracts, providing negotiation strategy advice, and competitive analysis.
John is a sailor, recently living on a 26' (8 metre) sailboat for six months on Long Island Sound.
